The answer is true, but the support is inextricably linked to the confusion between my emotions and rationality.

False. It just happens that our human condition likes to seat them next to one another at dinner parties. Can you just imagine little name placards saying "Love" and "Suffering" at the dining room table?

But then again, love was expressed by God through suffering. Hmmmmm...

Total true, sadly. Why? Because we're a bunch of sinners. And when you love someone and they sin against you, you will suffer. Also, when you sin against them, you'll suffer. (Note that I didn't say if you sin, but when. No one's perfect.)

Of course you can forgive and stuff, and that's awesome, but you can still get hurt (suffer) and then forgive.

I think that love and suffering are only linked *because* of sin. If we did had not fallen, neither we nor God would have had to suffer in our love.

Just my two pence.

yes, true i think. but it satisfies me because...what would love be if it was not entrenched in the deep pain of it's own suffering and sacrifice? If Jesus just waved a magic wand and saved everyone with God's beautiful mushy love, how would we really be able to see the depth of it? I take for granted the fact that a man was brutally tortured and killed because He loved me. imagine if He had never even done that? how would i view love? probably exactly how most of the world views it. love = sex and romantic bliss that can't last very long but comes and goes with whoever you choose at the moment to love. and families...forget them, you won't find love there.

ramble, ramble, ramble....

True. I agree with Jeni, though, that they are only connected by sin. If I didn't love, I wouldn't mind screwing up all the time. But I DO love, so it is anguishing to never be able to express that love fully.
